We really like Stuart Batty's Taper lock handles. They are strong, lightweight, and very comfortable to use. Our customers seem to agree - we have sold thousands of his handles, and they continue to sell. Even though Stuart Batty had to close his production facility, they are so popular we decided to continue production of the handles.

We realize that you might not wish to glue all your tools to a bolster, so we have combined two great ideas; The Robust collet system and the SB handle.

Now here are some of the advantages

-ER25 and ER32 collets are available in multiple sizes, we have included the most popular ones

-The handle being hollow, the tool can project as much or as little as you wish and can be reverse and stored inside the handle

-The Stuart Batty handle is comfortable, extremely strong, and absorbs vibration extremely well. It is light and does not conduct heat or cold.

If the collet get stuck a light tap of the end of the handle on the bed of the lathe will get it loose

ER25 Version is available in 12" and 16" *NEW* Now available in 8"

ER32 Version is available in 16" and 22"

GREAT tools - very flexible, and the shorter handles (8" or so) are perfect for spindle turning.

Thanks for now offering the 8" version - if you advertise as the perfect length for spindle turning, or 3/8" or less bowl turning, sales should increase dramatically.

SB Tools Carbon Fiber ER Collet Handles

Posted by Jon Spelbring on Apr 4th 2018

I really like them. I bought all three. My only complaint is that sometimes dust will work its way into the threads - makes it hard to get it tight enough to firmly grip the gouge. But, stopping and cleaning the threads fixes it quick. I really love the tool-less changeovers. My Allen wrench is back in the toolbox now.

16" SB Carbon Fiber Collet Handle

I am an experienced turner, and have used most of the Specialty Handles. This is by far the best feeling grip I have used. And the Collet system is
very cool, no more allen wrenches! Very happy
    with this purchase.

An improvement on a long time favorite

Posted by Unknown on Jun 7th 2017

The Stuart Batty handles have long been my favorite, their feel in the hand, balance, weight, ability to absorb vibration, all feel just right. My only objection has been having to glue a bolster and adaptor on the tools to fit them to the handle. The Robust Tools collet adaptor solves that problem neatly. The only complaint now is the tenancy for some chisels to slide completely through the collet before I can tighten it, but once tightened they are firmly locked in place. I have a couple of other brand handles that are going to be looking for a new home.

I recently bought the 12 inch carbon fiber handle and collets very impressed,so much easier to store 1 handle and multiple gouges. Does Stuart have an email address I would like to thank him for his way of sharpening and correct use of tools my turning has really improved.
