Diamic brand woodturning tools have been produced in Sheffield by skilled craftsmen, from the finest M2 steel for more than one hundred and fifty years. The manufacturer of these tools marries traditional hand crafting and forging skills with modern heat treatment and finishing techniques to give the quality of design, finish and edge retaining properties demanded by woodturners of today. Stringent control ensures that the best steel is selected. Each tool is carefully forged, correctly hardened and tempered, then hardness-tested to guarantee edge retention. The French use the Bedan in place of the two-blade combination of the Skew and Beading and Parting Tool the British use. The Bedan is an exceptional spindle turning tool; however, it is less forgiving than a Beading/Parting Tool and requires practice. Bedans can perform many cuts and are actually faster at the equivalent cuts performed by the Skew and Beading/Parting Tool combination.
Made popular by acclaimed turner Jean-François Escoulen. English made Bedan but used the French way with the bevel up
